Redesigning the MSU Art Department Faculty Contact Pages

Overview:

During the first half of my senior year at college, I had the wonderful opportunity to take the Prototyping Experience Architecture class with Dr. Zachary Kaiser at MSU. One of our class assignments was to redesign the faculty contact pages for the MSU Art Department's website. I found that the original design lacked effective information architecture, so I conducted research on faculty pages from other universities to inform my design decisions. Based on my research, I created a wireframe of a proposed redesign that focused on improving the user experience and making it easier for visitors to find information on faculty members. I also wanted to be pragmatic about working within the constraints of MSU's College of Arts and Letters concrete5 theme. To make the redesign more visually appealing and user-friendly, I redesigned the faculty landing page to include photos and icons indicating areas of expertise. I also condensed the information on Dr. Kaiser's page into dropdown menus for improved organization and added breadcrumbs for easy navigation. Overall, it was a great learning experience in effective information architecture and visual design.
